Tutoring
Tuition tailored to your exam board
If you become one of my students you will receive my exam analysis for your particular exam board.
Each section of the analysis contains syllabus material followed by questions extracted from past exam papers - allowing us to focus not just on topics but also learn how to apply what you have learned in a way which will maximise the mark you are able to attain.
FEES:
1 student = £40 per hour
2 students = £60 per hour (i.e. £30 each)
3 students = £75 per hour (i.e. £25 each)
4 students = £80 per hour (i.e. £20 each)
I would expect most if not all lessons to be conducted online. However, if you live near Grimsby, then face-to-face is still an option. You can travel to my house. If you want me to travel to your house there is an additional charge of 50 pence for each mile between my location and yours - up to a distance of 25 miles. If you live further away than 25 miles, additional expenses would be charged subject to agreement with the student(s).
What should you be looking for in an Economics tutor?
The first priority is that they have extensive knowledge and experience of teaching the subject at your level.
On certain websites you will see highly qualified tutors charging very high fees ... but it is often clear that they have no idea of the demands of the subject at the level you are studying! This means that they are highly inappropriate for your needs!!
I had 35 years of experience in full-time teaching A level Economics and am a member of the senior examining team for AQA A level Paper 1 (Markets and Market Failure). This experience in itself means that I have a deep knowledge and understanding of the economics involved in A level economics ... but in addition, since retiring from full-time teaching I have also been providing private tuition for students for all the main examination boards. I have undertaken an analysis of the specific syllabuses and exam papers for all of them, so I know the approach they take and what you need to do to maximise your marks.
All of this means I have unparalleled understanding of the requirements of A level Economics - there is nobody better!
The second priority is that your tutor is able to relate easily to you as a person.
Some tutors with a lot of experience of the subject may have lost the ability to communicate with young people - you may find it difficult for them to empathise with your situation ... you may even find them to be a bit intimidating!

Give these serious consideration as an alternative or a supplement to tuition ... you could save yourself a lot of money! Details appear on the next page.
Why not try purchasing just one document? In terms of Opportunity Cost, you don't have much to lose! You might try a tuition lesson for £40 and be disappointed (not one of mine of course! mine won't disappoint you!). So if you "gamble" £8 or £10 on one of my documents, it is the equivalent of paying for 15 minutes or less of tuition. But you'll find that one of my documents is typically 20 pages long, packed with more detail than you would get in a textbook, but MORE IMPORTANTLY full of explanations of ideas in a style you don't get in a textbook. Plus, the document are specifically directed at your exam board syllabus including sample questions.
A full set of my documents would provide a complete self-study course for A level, which you might want to supplement with a limited number of one-to-one tutorials focusing on exam technique. However, you could pick and choose ... just buy the ones for topics you're struggling with at school. Your teacher and classmates will wonder how you've suddenly managed to move to the top of the class!!
